What is it with last minute business trips? you always find yourself rushing around like a headless chicken with no real idea what’s going on.
That was me on Monday morning, i was told the previous night that i was to attend a meeting on Monday and Tuesday in Warsaw – now although it’s pretty cool being able to travel for free, it is also stressful and not as glamorous as you will think.
First of all, when i say last minute i literally mean 5pm the previous day getting the call to go to Warsaw and flying out at 9am the next morning. So that leaves you with Sunday night spending time packing and cleaning.
Secondly, it means dropping everything as i know the meetings are going to be intense, Fomo Daily goodbye for two days 😦
However other than that travelling for business has it’s perks, and that i mean staying in a pretty sweet hotel – The Intercontinental , it had everything i wanted – my room was an apartment hotel which meant i had to decide whether to work in the living room, kitchen, bedroom or bathroom. The hotel also benefitted from an indoor swimming pool just incase i needed to work off the room service food which was a’la carte.
After arriving and a few meetings me and my boss decided to meet for dinner in the hotel, the bar downstairs was pretty cool serving a nice bottle of Malbach wine – we did what we normally do, get smashed out of nuts! I vaguely remember us going to the restaurant and ordering steak tartare (i don’t know why as when i’m in that state i’m normally on the burgers but you do different things in different countries). After obliterating the food and more wine i stumbled upstairs to my room, had a bath and went to sleep – i regretted drinking as the next day was a big day.
I can’t really go into much detail about the meetings but let’s just say i’m on a big big project for Discovery Channel and next year is going to be quite exciting. We had the meeting at 10am and it finished at 2pm, now being hungover in an important meeting is one thing but having to catch your flight for 3:30pm is another thing, the airport being 20 mins away you can imagine there was a lot of running and swearing at this point.
We did make it on time and the flight back was filled with more alcohol!
Have to say even though i didn’t get to see any of Warsaw, i will definitely be going back if not just to sleep in that hotel again – it was sooo good, check it out below:
