Football is mourning the tragic loss of the AC Chapecoense team that died after their plane crashed.
The LaMia Airlines Flight 2933, which was en route to the Copa Sudamericana final first leg between ACF and Atletico Nacional, had taken off in Bolivia and had completed almost all of the journey to its destination in Medellin, Colombia when it ran into difficulties and crashed into Cerro Gordo, a mountain outside of the city. Shortly before the crash, the crew of Flight 2933 had reported electrical difficulties. Three days of mourning has been declared in Brazil.
Virtually the whole team, coaches and staff died as a result of the crash and now the AC Chapecoense team are only left with nine players who didn’t make the team.
The nine footballers that didn’t travel have been named locally as Alejandro Martinuccio, Neném, Demerson, Marcelo Boeck, Andrei, Hyoran, Nivaldo, Moisés and Rafael Lima.
They must now come to terms with the huge loss of staff from their club.
