Sir David Attenborough has years of experience of waiting, observing and analysing wildlife, from encountering man eating lions to being in the company of the worlds most dangerous snakes. He’s even been attacked by a rhino.
But what Sir David did next was nothing in comparison…
Meeting the queen in her natural habitat i.e Buckingham Palace, he attended a reception to raise awareness of an ambitious project that aims to create a global network of protected Commonwealth forests, the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy.
Ignoring the usual formalities, Sir David like a lion stalked his prey and when the moment was right leapt up and startled the Queen, leaving her to jump out of her skin.
And that is why he is our national treasure.
